The Trehane Blueberry PYO

PYO Season!!

What our field was put on the Earth to do!

PYO

PYO’ing here began a long time ago and nowadays it is become a Dorset institution and a fantastic day out for the family to come and stock up on some Organic goodness for the year ahead.

When

The blueberry picking season is around 6 weeks (so a pretty short a season!) and is around early July to mid-August.

We open the PYO field up to the public 6 days a week (Tues-Sundays) through this time and the final dates are published by the middle of June.

Opening Hours

During PYO season we are open 10-4pm alongside the Flower Barn Cafe. It can get quite busy during peak times so if you are after a quieter pick then we would suggest coming later on in the day between 2-4pm.

PYO Pricing

You pay for what you pick at a rate of £11.50/kg and we ask that there is a minimum 1kg pick per person/ couple / family group.

As a comparison, Organic Blueberries in the supermarket are around £18-23/kg so a very significant saving whilst getting the freshest fruit you can possibly find!

If you want to stock up then we offer some discounts on big picks too. See below…

FAQ’s

CAN YOU BRING YOUR OWN CONTAINERS?
Yes! We love it if you bring your own containers :) We weigh them before picking so you don’t pay for your container weight. We do provide free compostable cardboard punnets to everyone too though if you need.

ARE DOGS ALLOWED?
Well behaved dogs on leads are allowed on site - However they are not allowed in the blueberry picking field. Dogs on leads are allowed in the flower field and outside terrace areas only. In the off season dogs are allowed inside the Flower Barn, however in June, July & August it is very busy here on so it is a dogs outside only policy please during these months.

DO YOU SELL READY-PICKED BLUEBERRIES?
Yes! We have a team of pickers out there picking the back half of the field for selling fresh fruit through July and filling our freezers for the year ahead. Both fresh & frozen ready-picked blueberries are sold in 500g boxes, and frozen blueberries are available year-round in the Flower Barn Cafe.

ARE THE BLUEBERRIES ORGANIC?
Yes! Our Blueberries are Soil Association certified organic since 2019 and before that the blueberries have been grown organically since 1964.

IS THERE A MINIMUM PICK?
There is a 1kg minimum pick per party/family.

ARE THERE ANY DISCOUNTS FOR PICKING LOTS?
Yes! 5% off for 5kg+ and 10% off for 10kg+

DO WE NEED TO BOOK?
No booking is required — visitors can just turn up during opening hours. Our busiest times of day are usually 10-1pm.

HOW MUCH IS THE PYO KG PRICE?
Our PYO price for 2026 is £11.50 per kg.

IS IT WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE?
We are accessible however it is a farm so it isn’t that easy to get everywhere. We have 3x blue badge parking bays in front of the Flower Barn though the majority of the ground around the Flower Barn is compacted gravel paths. The PYO area is just next to the parking and on grass so there is a bit of room for wheelchair PYO’ing at the front of the field in peak season and the Flower Field is about 100m away from the parking along a compacted gravel path.

WHAT IF THE PARKING IS FULL?
We have increased our parking on site over the winter but it will still be busy and can get congested. If you have trouble parking then our friends at Knoll Gardens next door don’t mind if you park at theirs and walk over. However if it is really busy then you may want to come back another time.

CAN I FREEZE BLUEBERRIES?
OH YES! Blueberries freeze fantastically well - So much so that we pick and freeze LOADS of them for sale here throughout the year. Don’t wash them (there’s no need, all they have touched is the air!) and they won’t stick together and you’ll be able to pick out a lot or just a couple at a time from the freezer to enjoy all through the year :)
